Eliot reminded Steve of Bucky. He looked everywhere for a replacement for his friend. His brother. A sparring partner was just what he needed right now.
They boxed lightly. Moving around the slightly dusty room like two professional boxers. Neither of them had a shirt on. They were having fun testing each other's skills. Finally Eliot grinned like a devil and threw himself into the fight more fully. Steve felt himself nearly react well, a bit like a young teenager. Getting thrown into the wall like that was a surprise.
Boxing turned into wrestling as each of them struggled to pin the other to the ground. It was more playful that truly serious.
Steve hadn't had a reaction like this to someone for a long time. Something about Eliot made him think of Peggy now. Not Bucky.
Something about Eliot's mouth. He tried not to think about it because boy was that distracting. Eliot seemed to be aware of how distracted Steve was. He wasn't going to tease the other man for what seemed like a natural reaction.
"You alright, man?" Eliot's question brought Steve back to reality. He could almost hear Peggy chide him for getting lost in a memory. She might have liked Eliot, he thinks.
"I'm fine. Just..." He couldn't say it. Still his body feels way too tense and distracted from their sparring match. He isn't sure what is up with him. He can hear Bucky laughing his ass off at him and Peggy is still chiding him for getting distracted.
